Brief Description
Mentext is an AI technology developed by Mimosil
for working with plain English text.
It is aimed primarily at developers and is supplied as a software component.
Using Mentext's natural language processing capabilities,
developers can enable their software to identify meaning or information conveyed in text,
regardless of the words used.
By utilising the capabilities of Mentext, an application can:
- search a set of documents for a document about a given topic
- search within a document for a particular piece of information
- identify the meaning of an email or text typed by a user
- compare 2 pieces of text to see if they mean the same thing
Benefits of using Mentext
Comparison and searching of text using Mentext treats the information
conveyed within the text as important, not the particular words used.
This allows developers to enhance their applications to meet users'
expectations when processing text:
- returning pages concerning the required topic from a document search
- providing automated customer response emails which answer users' questions, not FAQ lists
- filtering emails based on the topic discussed, not the specific words used
Mentext's advanced technology can yield significant benefits to the
developer, in terms of increased functionality and reduced development time,
by providing these capabilities in an off-the-shelf component
which is simple to integrate into their software solutions.
Typical Application Scenarios
- Analysing email content in filtering or auto-response systems
- Live monitoring of chat or bulletin board content
- Back-end processing of web site forms
- Searching document libraries or help systems for answers to user queries
- Allowing game NPCs to respond to free-form user input in RPGs
- Adding meaning-based searches to databases of web pages

AI Technology
Natural language processing technologies are still in their early stages.
As a consequence, although Mentext is a highly advanced AI system,
developers should be aware that technology has not yet reached the point
where a computer can comprehend natural language as well as a person.
We are constantly striving to enhance the technology within Mentext.
As we incorporate improvements into Mentext, we will make these available
to customers as free updates on our web site.
